Scratch : Software Execution (Windows)

Running the software
  1. Plug the USB dongle into the USB port of the PC and turn on the Hamster robot.
  2. Double-click RobotCoding.cmd in the C:/RobotCoding folder to run the Robot Coding Software.
  3. If you wait for a while, the Hamster robot and PC will be connected via Bluetooth. The information of the connected Hamster robot is displayed on the right side of the screen and the ScratchX Online and Scratch Offline is activated. If the information of the connected Hamster robot is not displayed even after waiting, refer to the FAQ menu.

When the Hamster robot connected to the PC is found, scanning is automatically stopped. To find a new Hamster robot afterwards, just click the Start Scanning on the right side of the screen. When multiple Hamster robots are connected to the PC, all connected robots are displayed in order.
  4. Click the ScratchX Online or Scratch Offline on the left side of the screen.
While using the Scratch, the Robot Coding Software should be left running without exiting. The Robot Coding Software receives commands from the Scratch, passes them to the hardware robot, and transmits the sensor values of the hardware robot to the Scratch.

  5. Click on either Single Robot or Multiple Robots. Click Back to return to the previous screen.
  6. Clicking one of the Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 will bring up the Scratch screen. The blocks available for each level are different. The Level 1 is suitable for kindergartens and the first year of elementary schools. The Level 2 is for the lower grade of elementary schools, and the Level 3 is for the upper grade of elementary schools.
If the Scratch screen does not appear, refer to the FAQ menu.
To use the blocks for the Hamster robot, when creating a new Scratch file, do not select the New menu in the File menu of the Scratch. Be sure to click one of the Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 on the screen of the Robot Coding Software.

  7. On the Scratch, click More Blocks. The blocks related to the Hamster robot are all here. Above the blocks, there are a letter called Hamster and a green circle on the right. If the Hamster robot is connected to the PC, the circle is displayed in green. If the robot is not connected, it is displayed in yellow. When you exit the Robot Coding Software, it is displayed in red.
If the blocks related to the Hamster robot are not displayed when you click the More Blocks, please finish the Scratch and click one of the Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 again on the screen of the Robot Coding Software.
