What's the USB dongle?
The USB to BLE Bridge dongle is a device that converts Bluetooth 4.0 BLE packets into serial communication packets and vice versa.
Bluetooth connection indicator
-
Slow blinking in blue
Waiting for a Bluetooth connection.
When the USB dongle is plugged into the USB port of the PC, the Bluetooth connection indicator blinks slowly in blue.
-
Steady blue
Bluetooth connected.
When connected to the Hamster robot via Bluetooth, the Bluetooth connection indicator stays on.
-
Fast blinking in blue
Receiving data.
While receiving data from the Hamster robot, the Bluetooth connection indicator blinks rapidly in blue.
Why the USB dongle is needed?
Pairing is required to connect a robot to a computer via Bluetooth.
In the classroom environment, many computers and Hamster robots are used.
When multiple robots are turned on, my computer can be connected to the neighboring robot rather than my robot.
Therefore, only one robot must be turned on and paired, then the robots must be paired one by one, which is time-consuming and complicated.
However, USB dongles eliminate this problem.
The pairing process becomes very easy and fast,
and even when all the robots are turned on, they only find and connect their robots.
If your computer supports Bluetooth 4.0 BLE, you can connect directly without a USB dongle,
but we recommend using a USB dongle for your lessons.
For smartphones/tablets, they must support Bluetooth 4.0 BLE,
and your smartphone/tablet and Hamster robot can connect directly via the Bluetooth 4.0 BLE without a USB dongle.
